Job Description

Position: Online Surveyor – ROV Operations (Node Handling Vessel)

Temporary assignment of 6 weeks starting 24th of July.

Possibility of a permanent contract.

Location:  Gulf of Mexico.


Main Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Realtime Positioning: Responsible for the realtime positioning of ROVs and communication with ROV pilots.
  • Node Basket Efficiency: Communicate with maritime and deck functions to maintain node basket efficiency.

Equipment Used:

  • ROV: Schilling, Forum – Experience working with ultradeep water class ROVs
  • Survey Software: 4Dnav NavView – Incremental training to cover client node dashboard.
  • Vessel Positioning: Fugro Starfix G4 + Starfix XP2 – Veripos is acceptable.
  • Vessel Heading / AHRS: Kongsberg Seapath MGC – Octans or Lodestar is acceptable.
  • Acoustic Positioning: Kongsberg HiPap, APOS Survey.
  • Inertial Positioning: Sonardyne SprintNav 500 – PHINS 6000 on Poseidon crew.
  • Acoustic Beacons: Kongsberg cNode MiniS.
  • Sound Velocity: SVX2, uvSVX, Sonardyne PIES.


  • Experience: 18 months+ experience working as an online surveyor in an ROV operation such as construction, LBL, or Ocean Bottom Node deployment.
  • Navigation Systems: 18 months+ experience using USBL aided Inertial Navigation Systems on ROVs for ultradeepwater (up to 3000m) positioning projects.
  • Valid passport
  • Valid BOSIET & Medical
  • Valid B1 OCS visa.
