Rig Coach (Arabic & English speaking)
Job Description
The Rig Coach acts as a senior technical mentor and HSE champion embedded directly alongside the Company Supervisor throughout both the reactivation and the subsequent drilling & completion campaign in Basra, Iraq.
The rig crew's competencies may be constrained due to prolonged standby. The Rig Coach's primary mission is to close this gap — coaching, mentoring, and training the national drilling crew while ensuring all operations meet company’s standards, procedures, KPIs, and HSE requirements.
This is a high-influence, hands-on coaching role — not a direct supervisory line role. The Coach supports, guides, and empowers rather than commands.
Mandatory requirements:
- Minimum 15 years of total experience in the Oil & Gas industry
- Minimum 6 years in a Toolpusher position (or equivalent — e.g. Rig Manager, Senior Driller) on onshore Drilling & Completion / Workover operations
- Fluent Arabic AND Fluent English — BOTH are mandatory and non-negotiable (spoken, written, read)
- Demonstrable experience on onshore land rig operations
- Experience supporting or coaching national / local drilling crews.
- Solid knowledge of Well Control principles and procedures (IWCF or IADC Well Sharp — Supervisory Level)
- Familiarity with PTW, JSA, JRA, and TBT processes
- Experience following preventive maintenance systems (PMS) and OEM rig equipment requirements.
- Comfortable working in remote onshore environments — high H2S exposure
- Must be available for 28/28 rotation mobilizing to Basra, Iraq from Q3 2026
Preferred requirements:
- Previous experience in Iraq — specifically Basra / southern Iraq oilfields
- Experience on rig reactivation projects (cold-stacked rig to operational readiness)
- Familiarity with DrillMec rig systems (IDC series) or equivalent 2,000 HP onshore land rigs
- Prior Rig Coach or TTE (Technical Training & Evaluation) assignment
- Experience with Synergi Life incident management system
- Competency in critical spare parts inventory management on rigs
- Strong report writing: Daily, Weekly, Monthly formats for IOC clients.
